Trans Sarbagita buses claimed to ease traffic
Denpasar: The Trans Sarbagita public transportation service connecting Denpasar, Badung, Gianyar and Tabanan, has reportedly slashed the use of private vehicles by around 1,449 vehicles a day.
I Ketut Teneng, spokesperson for the provincial administration, told journalists on Monday that the decreasing number of private vehicles on the road would automatically ease the heavy traffic congestion in several strategic locations, such as the route connecting Denpasar-Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Park in Jimbaran and the second corridor connecting Batubulan (Gianyar)-Nusa Dua via Kuta Central Parking.
Teneng said that the number of passengers using Trans Sarbagita public buses reached 205,101 in 2011 (estimated at 1,508 passengers each day). In 2012, the number of passengers had increased to 855,580 people (around 2,886 passengers per day).
