STIKES students win English debate c’ship
Denpasar: Students from STIKES Health Institute Bali won the University Debating Championship involving state and private universities and institutes from Bali, West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara provinces.
The STIKES team, Ida Ayu Anom Rastiti and Komang Rosa Anggara, beat 23 other contestants from the three provinces.
In the final session, the STIKES team beat the strongest contenders from Denpasar’s Udayana University, Buleleng’s Ganesha Educational University (Undhiksa) and Lombok’s Mataram University in West Nusa Tenggara.
Rastiti said she was excited to win the championship. “We come from an institute which teaches healthcare issues. People probably think that we only know about health. The debate topics ranged from social, economic, political, to environmental and cultural issues,” Rastiti said.
The winner of this championship will represent the Bali, West and East Nusa Tenggara region in the coming national university debate competition in Jakarta.
